Question (Q): What has been your favorite Curler Outreach webinar?

Scott Stein (SS): Tough choice! I say “Redefining the Delivery” because it breaks the slide into fundamentals that anyone can practice. And I need practice!

Q: Do you have any special roles at your club, or leagues/spiels you regularly enjoy?

SS: Well, I’m always the lead. I’m new to the St. Paul club, and last year was a weird year, of course, so I plan on getting more involved this year. I curled in Hibbing before that. I play the Last Chance Bonspiel in Hibbing and curl the Cystic Fibrosis ‘Spiel in Superior every year. I’m always looking for new Bonspiels, though!

Q: How did you find curling?

SS: My brother decided to try it and somehow got me out there. I liked the challenge of it and that it’s a great team game. The beer tastes good afterward, also.

Q: Best moment of curling in your life- on or off the ice.

SS: I convinced my daughter to give curling a chance and played with her for a year before she graduated high school and moved on. Also, I played a five and under bonspiel with my son and brother…and we won!

Q: Do you have any personal curling goals for the future?

SS: I started this game later in life, so I just want to be the best curler and teammate I can be. Also, I’d love to get more people curling! I think once people try it…they’re hooked.

Q: Especially in these uncertain times, what does being a curler mean to you?

SS: It gives opportunities to meet great people, stay active, travel, and have something I can work on improving for a lot of years, hopefully. I love that you can walk into any curling club and have something interesting in common with everyone.

Q: Anything else you'd like folks to know- about yourself, your club, etc?

SS: My club helped me find three different teams last year. I was new to the area and didn’t know anyone. If someone wants to curl but can’t find a team, call your club. They’ll help. Mine did.

Thank you, Scott, for your support of the Curler Outreach Program.

Good Curling, Scott, St. Paul, and Minnesota!
